Traditional Slovene cuisine

Into the offer of traditional Slovene foode we have included those which had received the Gostilna Slovenija title, and tourist farms famous, and tested, for fine homemade food (local food, eco food and wine, homemade meat products, own wine production...).

The brand mark Gostilna Slovenija is awarded by the Camber of Craft and Small Business, Division of hospitality industry and tourism.

It could only be possible to obtain the title if certain criteri have been met:

The offer has to include at least 80 per cent of homemade, local

and traditional dishes; the ratio of local wines to foreign ones

should be 75%.

They should also observe the criteria regarding seasonal food offer, ecological foods, products with protected geographical indication and including traditional food in their offer.

  • Idrija pasta squares,
  • The Belokranjska pogača

 

Traditional Slovenian foods:

  • Krainer sausage,
  • Rolled dumplings,
  • Nanos cheese, potica,
  • Braided yeast bun,
  • Piran salt,
  • Krainer mead,
  • Prekmurje ham,
  • Karst honey,
  • Extra virgin olive oil from Slovenian Istria
